Twitter Introduced Two New Features

Today Twitter rolled out two new features which are @username and Activity tab. Now you can see which of your tweet are favorite of others, which of your tweets are retweeted and which of your tweet inspire people to follow you.

Twitter replaces @metions with @username and added one more new feature as activity tab. Activity tab will show you favourites, follow, retweets and more by people you follow. As Twitter said, it will make Twitter easier to explore and connect with people. In my point of view it's good feature and will make Twitter more intractable.

Do We Really Need Another Social Media Website

Last week internet giant Google had launched the another social media website named Google+. But big question is, "Do we really need another Social media website"? In average you can find each and every person on Facebook and Twitter. In Facebook we already have all of our friends and we are sharing all type of content with them. In Twitter we are tweeting about the current news, things we like, re tweeting the tweets of friends, tech giants, business gurus and celebrities.

And if all of this happening then why we need to join Google+. I already have all of my friends on Facebook and hardly there will be anyone who is not in Facebook. So why i spend my time on Google+ and share almost same type of stuff on Google+.


Google had launched the Gooogle Buzz, +1 button and now Google+. In India we saw the rise and fall of Orkut. Orkut was the most popular and first social media website used by Indian. But Orkut could not trun to be viral and after few time Facebook over took Orkut. I know few of my friends who spend daily 4-5 hours on Facebook, when i think about these Facebook lover, the question which arises in my mind, Does Google+ can break the loyalty of Facebook Lover.

Google+ looked like the integartion of Google Profile, Google Buzz, +1 Button and Picasa. Few of features of Google+ are intresting but i could not see any feature better than Facebook. Lots of things depend on how Google will architech Google+. Google have large data of people and their online behaviour than Facebook. But again question is, Can Google use this data in most appropriate way, if Google successed then Google+ can become the closest competitor of Facebook. But if Google+ fails then its condition will be like what today Orkut is.

I think in few months, may be at end if this year it will get clear how much suceess and impact Google+ will make.

Introducing Google+, Google Killer for Facebook

"I don't think people have change that much in thousands of years and i think that they're still fundamentlly drive by same thing, same internal desires, same hopes" these were the begining lines of Google+ video, which are 100% true.

Google lunched the most awaited social media project with Google+. Google new attempt in social networking. Before this we had seen Orkut and Google Buzz but both could not get success in engaging the people. We hope Google+ will be killer of Facebook which is not at all easy. Some of the features of Google+ are Circles, Stream, Hangouts, Instant Upload, Sparks and Huddle.

Sharing the right staff with right people. You can share the stuff only with the people in that circle. You can create the specific cirlces which include your college friends, family, Office colleague etc, something like Facebook gropus.

Osama Death Create New Tweets Per Second Record

In Feb. month i wrote about the Super Bowl 2011 Tweets per Second record. Super Bowl broke the record of Japan vs Denmark Football world cup match with 4,064 tweets per second. But Super Bowl can sustain this record only for two months. Death of Osama Bin Laden broke the Super Bowl record with 5,530 tweets per second.

On 1st May evening for more than two hours tweet per second was more than 3000. Also death of Osama Bin Laden become the one of most tweeted event in history. In last post about tweet per second (TPS) i made one mistake, Super Bowl 2011 don't create the maximum TPS record. still the maximum no. of TPS record is 6,939 tweets per second at New Year's Eve 2011 in Japan.

YouTube's Life in a Day Movie will Release on July 2011

In social media, April month is fully dominated by YouTube. First YouTube launched the YouTube live stream, Prince William live marriage coverage and now "Life in a Day" documentary movie. Life in a day is story of single day in life and is directed by Oscar winner director Kevin Macdonald. Kevin cut down the 4500 hours of footage into 90 minutes film.

But how YouTube get idea to make movie on life in a day ? On 24th July 2010 thousands of people around the world uploaded video in YouTube about their single life day.

Life in a day is produced by Ridley Scott and National Geography Entertainment will premier movie on 24th July 2011, just 4 days after my birthday. Still YouTube has not announced the release date of movie outside U.S. But here in India, I'm waiting for Life in a Day.

YouTube Will Live Stream Prince William Wedding

After a fews days to launch YouTube Live stream, YouTube got hotest live streaming of year, which is Royal marriage of British's Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton. Marrige ceremony date is fixed on 29 April 2011.

Live streaming of marriage will host on official YouTube Royal Page. Marriage live streaming will run for 4 hours which begin at 10 am BST. YouTube is expecting to get more than 2 billion views for live streaming. The event is going to be biggest ever live event on YouTube, before this YouTube live streamed the U2 concert and got more than 10 million views.

YouTube Launches YouTube Live Browse Page

Finally YouTube launched the Live streaming feature for certain parters. In past YouTube had shown the live streaming of few events which includes IPL Matches in India, concerts, public speech etc. Even this year YouTube showing live streaming of IPL-4 matches. But this time YouTube has come up with YouTube Live browse Page.

In YouTube Live browse page you can see the all the live events which include featured events, today, Upcoming and next 7 days events.

YouTube has surpassed more than 2 billion video views in a day and is third highest traffic website in world. Moreover YouTube is second largest search engine in world after Google. YouTube said, "Our Goal is to provide the thousands of partners with the capability to live stream from their channels in the months ahead."

I believe YouTube Live can break the all previous records of watching a live video. And soon will become the biggest place to watch any news, concerts, sports match or anytning live in world.

Rebecca Black New YouTube Sensation

Rebecca Black, 13 year old girl is going to break all records in YouTube with her "Friday" song. In less than two months Rebecca Black video has got more then 46 Million views and had earned more than US40,000$ in less than one week. There is no doubt YouTube can make you overnight star, last year we had seen Justin Bieber "Baby" and this year its Black "Friday".

Black is not a good singer and song is not of that mark. Even Black herself said, "I think i have some talent, I don't think I'm worst singer but i don't think I'm best singer". In my review "Friday" is totally a kid song. Here is Black offical video "Friday".

One new milestone for LinkedIn: LinkedIn surpassed 100 million users. LinkedIn is world largest professional networking website and launched in 2003. It took six years to got the 50 million professionals but interesting thing to notice is that it took only one and half years to get next 50 million professionals.

Super Bowl Broke TPS Record in Twitter

Super Bowl broke the all previous records and got the maximum no. of tweets per second. Super Bowl is the championship game of National Football League in USA. At the final moment of game fans send 4064 tweets per second (TPS). Previous record was 3283 TPS, during Japan 3-1 win over Denmark in last year football world cup.

It takes only few months to break the previous TPS record. Lets see how long Super Bowl sustain his record.

Do Future of Social Media is Cell Phones

A few days ago, i read in Mashable, Facebook is planning to launch two Facebook Phones in this March. Facebook has done partnership with HTC and may use android as OS for Facebook Phone. Finally Facebook has planned to come in cell phones.

As Facebook said we want to make Facebook more Mobile Social. We want more and more people can access Facebook through cell phones and Facebook Phone is first step to make Facebook more mobile social.

Currently Facebook have around 600 million users and out of which more than 200 million user access Facebook through cell phones. A year ago there were only 50 million people who used cell phones to access Facebook. You can see people has increased 4 times only in one year. And in next years it will increase more in number.

Once there was time people can access the internet in cell phones only through Smart phones. But now from a medium range of cell phones whose cost start from 5-6k rupees, you can access the social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, Orkut etc. Moreover 3G services will also become one of the big reason to use internet in cell phones.

Even every social media website want to make their website cell phones compatiable. There are few social media websites like FourSquare, Path which you can access only through cell phones. I think you can use and take the maximum benefits of Google Places, Facebook Places through cell phones.

This time i have simple Motorolla cell phone, but planning to buy Android OS enabled cell phone. I think this year we will see lots more mobile phones applications. This year will be of Mobile phones and i am sure we will see lots of Tablets, gadgets and low- medium range smart phones in market.

Why Facebook wants to make Mobile Phones more Social

What is relation between Facebook and Mobile phones? In next few years there will be a strong relationship between Facebook and mobile or cell phones. Facebook will be accessed by people through Mobile phones. Facebook have more than 500 million users and out of them 200 million user access Facebook through mobile phone. Last year Facebook had 65 million cell phone user.

Facebook mobile phone user had increased three times in last one year. And in future more people will access Facebook through cell phone.

Facebook denied they are planning to come in mobile phone market. Mark Zuckberberg deined that they have any plan to come up with Facebook Phone. Mark Zuckberberg said "Our goal is to make everyone social. If you are building an iPhone your goal is to get as many phones out there. Our goal is to be social."

Zuckberberg make a funny comments by saying we are not from hardware industry, so have no plan to sell hardware :)

Facebook launched the modern messaging system and it's not email. In Modern Messaging there will be no subject lines, no cc, bcc and you can send message clicking on enter tab. Facebook said, your messaging should feel like human conversation. So in modern messaging system will be informal, simple, seamless and immediate.

Seamless Messaging
Your friend or to whom you want to send message can get the message through any medium. You can send them message through Gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc. Facebook providing @Facebook.com email address to everyone who is using Facebok.
