How To Setup Facebook Insights for Website and Blog

Now you can use the Facebook Insights for your personal website and blog. Earlier Facebook provides the Insights only for Facebook Pages but now you can set up the Facebook Insights for website and can see the how many likes, clicks, impressions etc. your website got.

To set up Facebook Insights is very easy and it require three steps to follow:

1. First go to the Facebook Insights. After landing the Facebook Insights page you will see the "Insights for your website" button on the top of right hand side. Click on the button and you will see the

2.  Now in Domain put the root domain you want the insights for, it can be your website or blog domain name. In Link with box you can choose the Facebook Page or your name. After this you will see the code on the below of the box, see above in blue color. 

Copy this meta tags and paste it into the above closing header section. Now save the changes.

That's it, you almost done. Now click on the get Insights and you can see the data for your website or blog. In Facebook Insights you can see the total CTR, impression, likes, referral traffic and shares. You can check the daily, weekly and monthly data for your website or blog.

Why Facebook wants to make Mobile Phones more Social

What is relation between Facebook and Mobile phones? In next few years there will be a strong relationship between Facebook and mobile or cell phones. Facebook will be accessed by people through Mobile phones. Facebook have more than 500 million users and out of them 200 million user access Facebook through mobile phone. Last year Facebook had 65 million cell phone user.

Facebook mobile phone user had increased three times in last one year. And in future more people will access Facebook through cell phone.

Facebook denied they are planning to come in mobile phone market. Mark Zuckberberg deined that they have any plan to come up with Facebook Phone. Mark Zuckberberg said "Our goal is to make everyone social. If you are building an iPhone your goal is to get as many phones out there. Our goal is to be social."

Zuckberberg make a funny comments by saying we are not from hardware industry, so have no plan to sell hardware :)

Facebook launched the modern messaging system and it's not email. In Modern Messaging there will be no subject lines, no cc, bcc and you can send message clicking on enter tab. Facebook said, your messaging should feel like human conversation. So in modern messaging system will be informal, simple, seamless and immediate.

 Some of the unique feature of Modern Messaging are:
Seamless Messaging
Your friend or to whom you want to send message can get the message through any medium. You can send them message through Gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc. Facebook providing @Facebook.com email address to everyone who is using Facebok. So you can share mail with your friend, whether they are on Facebook or not.

Facebook Wants to Find Your All Orkut Friends

Today morning as i log in Facebook, i saw big notice on top of my page, Find your Orkut friends on Facebook. I don't know Facebook is showing this in India or worldwide. But still in India, Orkut is one of top social networking site. You can read my Orkut vs Facebook Post, which i wrote last year when Facebook beat Orkut and become no. 1 social media website in India.

Personally i find still some of my friends are in orkut and use Facebook less than Orkut. Now Find your orkut friends in Facebook means don't login to orkut for social networking, find all friends in Facebook :). A good move by Facebook which is not at all good for Orkut.

Facebook+Bing Announced "Social Search"

Facebook is planning to come up with social search and want to make search more personalize. Yesterday Mark Zuckerberg had announced Facebook is working with Bing to make search more social. He also gave the answers of few questions about "Social Search" and how does it work?

Bing will show the search results for Facebook Profile of the people and  Likes of the people. On what types of data Facebook will provide to Bing and on Facebook users privacy, Mark answer was "Bing can get only information about you what any other user can see in Facebook. It’s all public information."

On showing the all "Likes" on Bing search, Mark said Facebook user have full control on that. If you want to make your Likes private, no other can access those information. You can read the entire news at Search Engine Land.

Facebook Developer Garage Meet at Bangalore.

Last Sunday i attended the Facebook Developer Garage meet at Kuliza Technology, Bangalore. The event is supported by Facebook and co-hosted by Social Media Club Bangalore, Kuliza and GizaPage.

Event venue was full with all social media enthusiasts of Bangalore. Interaction with Facebook, social media application developer and sharing of knowledge was wonderful. Everyone has new idea and want to rock in Facebook by developing application or by viral marketing.

Interesting thing is that through out the section every social media experts give their thoughts and tips about viral marketing. And personally i love to read and learn about viral marketing.



Section from BitRhymes "how to develop Facebook application" was very good. Also presentation by Indus Khaitan on "Job hiring application in Facebook" was wonderful. Besides this "Facebook Platform Integration" by Shreyas Srinivasan, NH7.in was interesting.

Now Download "Your Account Information" in Facebook New Feature

Facebook has come up with new feature which allow you to download "Your account information". Now in Facebook you can download your all personal data in zip file format. You can access "Download Your Information" feature in your account setting. By clicking on the download button you can download the all your information like your photos, videos, wall posts, friend lists etc. in zip file. Also you can upload you account information in other website.

How Delhi Traffic Police is using Facebook Page.

In Facebook you have seen Pages of celebrities, Businesses, small companies to MNC's etc. But Traffic Police in Facebook, still don't believe but its true. Delhi Traffic Police is using Facebook for Traffic updates and more than 13 thousand people like their page. In this page Delhi Traffic police tell about the latest traffic updates in city.

Any announcement about road construction, accidents, high traffic jam etc. Moreover Delhi Traffic Police is showing the CCTV pictures of traffic violating vehicles.

How to create and promote your business in Facebook Page

Facebook gives a separate page for business promtion and this page is known as Facebook Page.This page is not less then a web site, in this page you can post the all the latest updates, pictures, videos, events or any information you want to share with your customer. Facebook gives the better options for all those small business companies who don't have a web site, because Facebook Page is not less then a website. From small business companies to MNC's Facebook Page has become the first choice for brand, products, business promotion

And if you are a facebook user, then you aware about Facebook Page. Lots of time you have notice your friend suggests you to like the Facebook Pages of their interest. It can be Page of a celebrity like Michael Jakson, Actor like will smith, Companies like Coca-cola, Adidas, Nike etc.

After doing this start promoting your page among your friends, people of same interest, it can be word of mouth. Tell every one to whom you know about your Facebook Page, ask your friends to suggest your page to their friends.

Is really Google and Facebook are each other Competitor

You read lots of news, articles in which Facebook compared with Google. It may be in term of daily traffic, personal search, growth of facebook or no. of users in facebook. On the internet people are spending their maximum time on social media sites, Facebook and Twitter are the leading social media sites where people are spending their maximum time.

You can search about people, products, companies in these sites. Facebook is taking the services of Bing for default search results,so in facebook you can get everything. So why people will use Google, if they get everything in facebook?


Facebook is a social media site, where people are spending their time to interact friends, to check the status or updates of their friends, relatives etc. And searches in Facebook are more personalize. In Facebook you can get the recommendation of the people about particular product, services. Like you can know how is the food of the restaurants or how is the recent released movie? In social media sites People talk about their experience or opinion about product or services.

But what you will do when you want to go a restaurant or coffee house with your girlfriend or you want to find a multiplex in your near surrounding. In order to get these information you can't wait on facebook and wait for some one answer.

As i discuss above in Google you can find instant search with maps, moreover now Google is providing the Real Time Search option, means you can find what people are saying about your search. You can see what someone had said about your search one second, 1 min ago in Twitter as well as in Facebook. Yes, Google is showing the latest search results from Twitter and Facebook, both sites had done deal with Google to show their data in search results.

I think for videos views, videos search no one social media sites can beat You Tube, just come after Facebook in daily traffic. You Tube is Google owned website. Google is trying to make videos more personal and doing lots of research to make videos more better.

Google Comments on Competitors 

On the competition from Facebook, Twitter Google said, "we are not worry about our competition. We are focusing on creating wonderful products, which people are going to love. We don't believe in wasting our time on what our competitor is doing and how we can stop him? If we bring good and useful products then our task had done."

Also why people forget Google is not a web site, in Google basket they have everything for Internet user. Google have more than 100 internet applications, products and millions of people are using them. And moreover 100 of more applications or products Google is planning to launch. War between Facebook and Google.

The growth of the Facebook is givining a threat to Internet giant Google. Facebook has more than 500 million user who contribute to more than 4 billion piece of information, 850 million photos and more than 8 million videos every month. More then 400 million users means more than 1/5 of internet user in the world. Means facebook can become search engine who has most personal user data. Facebook has become the no. 1 traffic site in USA on weekly basis.

On the basis of traffic facebook is on second position after google and is gaining more and more market share of Google. Moreover what exactly facebook will do with the 400 million data of people is still a question of concern. Suppose what will happen if people get all search results on facebook like other search engines. Then what would be their first choice, again here Facebook have an edge. All these facts are giving a threat to Google.

Facebook Track Record
Facebook is known for its new social application and techniques. In facebook you can reload the photos like Flickr, share links like Delicious, send the personal e mail, check the status updation of friends, can create your company or business personal page. Facebook has introduced the "Like Button" for all his pages, which is helping the user to promote their page more virally. Moreover facebook has more form of advertising like facebook adds with pictures,facebook fan page, groups then google online advertising.

Last year Facebook had purchased the "FriendFeed" a popular social networking platform. In last December Facebook launched Connect, a network of more than 10,000 sites, which allows the user to access facebook without logging to facebook site.Moreover Facebook is using Bing as it default search engine. This year in Feb Google had launched the "Google Buzz" his new social networking venture,but could not successed in diverting people from facebook.

If Facebook continue growing like this it will not take more time to become the no. one site in world. Today the rivalry between Facebook and Google are going to define the new structure, design, utility and future of the internet. From the last decades internet has been defined by Google algorithm and his mathematics equations. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes in a more personalized, humanized Web, where our network of friends, colleagues, peers, and family is our primary source of information.

We can't ignore the Google in terms of innovation, new applications, techniques in internet. How Google will deal with Facebook,we can find this answer only in future. In 1-2 years picture will get more clearer who is going to dominate on internet. I am writing this post in May 2010 and i believe in the end of this year picture will get little bit more clearer.

Orkut VS Fcaebook

In 2009, we saw a tough competition between Orkut &  Facebook. In 2009 Facebook and Twitter get successed in making a huge fan club.In India it was the year of the face book, Facebook become the major social networking site in India.

For those who still unaware of Alexa Ranking in India, Facebook overtook Orkut to secure its position at Number 4 leaving behind Orkut at Number 5. This article looks at the fight from an Indian perspective and finds out the sustainable growth of Facebook in India. Orkut is fighting the battle hard to leave no stone unturned, but are still not able to come with the right kind of innovation needed.

Before we begin the analysis; its time to get some facts straight. It’s a common myth that Facebook was launched much later than Orkut. However, the launch date of Orkut was Jan 2004  and named after Orkut Buyukkokten, the Turkish Google employee. While that of Facebook was Feb 2004 (hardly one month difference).

Fcaebook, was intially a website reserved for student of Harvard University.. So the concept of Facebook gaining popularity in a matter of just one year is not so correct. Yes, the presence was felt much later in India and it gained popularity in a short time but the global launch dates were close. Facebook has over 230 million active users and has been rapidly growing around the world in the last 24 months.Orkut, the social network run by Google, has remained dominant in Brazil and India.

               But Orkut is the first social networking site of the india, before this most of the people don't know about the web 2.0.For them Orkut was the platform of sharning information ,sharing albums.Still its much popular among students but it fails in connecting its user globally. In 2008 Orkut was the no. 1 social networking site in the india, but this year Orkut get failed to make its popularity.

Personally, In starting i don't like Facebook but now i access Facebook more than Orkut. I personally think on Facebook, you choose to share what you want to and with whom. Facebook is great for discovering interesting friends of friends, If you and I share a common friend, we are also likely to share at least some common interests, i think Orkut is lacking in innovation. Lets see what will happen in 2010.......
