What does Bounce Rate tell ? Why it is important for your website ?

How often you check the bounce rate of your website or web page? In Google Analytic, you can see bounce rate in your Dashboard under Site Usage section, in Content Overview or in Visitors section under the Visitor Trending. In Google Analytic Bounce rate of a web site or web page always measured in percentage.

First understand what the bounce rate is? According to Google, "A Bounce rate is percentage of single –page visits or visits in which the person left you website from entrance or landing page".

According to Avinash Kaushik Sir, Bounce Rate can be measured as
.The percentage of website visitors who just seen one page of your website.
.The percentage of website visitors who stay on website for small amount of time (Usually five second or less)

Bounce Rate of a page clearly tell about the quality of a page. A web page or landing page showing the bounce rate of 90% is not at all good sign for any website.

In Google Analytics you can check the bounce rate of your each web page in Top Content section. So if your web site pages have high bounce rate then it shows your landing page or entrance page has some problem and it has to be optimized.
