It looks that Google is giving more preference to local business owner. A few days ago Google announced the Google Boost and now "Google Places" for local Places results in SERP. Google announced if search looks for places, then you will see more places results in search results. Also Google added "Places Link" in left hand side of search result page. I took screen shot of search result for "north Indian restaurant Bangalore" in new Google search page and results appears as.

Places search results marked as red pin in and now you can see the pictures, more description in SERP and map on right hand side which was not earlier. If you click "Places Link" in search result page on left hand side, you will see search results as.

Yesterday Google announced "Google Place Search" still i have not found "Places" in Google search page. But in few days you can search for "Places" in Google search page.
