How to Set up Goals and Funnels in Google Analytics

Why Goals and Funnels are so important


In Google analytic, Goal and Search Funnel can help you in analyzing your data more accurately. Lets understand first what is the Goal and funnels in Google Analytics.
A Goal is the completion of your desired task in your web page. It can be a pages per visits, time on your web site etc.
Whereas Funnel is the path or web page which you want visitors to visit before reaching your goal.

You can set the three different types of Goals for your web site. First one is Destination URL, second one is Time on site and third one is Page/Visit.

Destination URL
A destination URL can be a thank you page or any regards page which you want to appear in completion of your goal. Submit after domain part of your URL in the required box and give the name to your goal.

Time on site
You can set the time spend by user in your website as Goal. It can time greater than or less hours or minutes in your website a user, visitor spend.

Page/Visit
By using this goal you can find out the how much pages visitors had visited in your web site. You can set pages greater than or less pages visits as goal in your website.

If you had choose destination url as goal, then you can use the funnel for this goal. Click on the goal funnel and type the url you want to choose for your goal. A funnel is a series of urls which leads to your final goal. And then Click on Save Goal.

In order to set the Goals and funnels go to Analytic Setting or Home Page, click on Edit above Action, which will take you Profile Setting Page. Now below your website profile information you can see Goals section.
Or
Go to the Dashboard and click on Goal at left hand side of navigation bar.


Now click on Goal and select your goal type.

In order to set Goal Funnels, you have to choose Url destination in goal setting, then click on goal funnel and follow the instructions. You can see funnel report in Funnel Visualization Report.
